Operator / Responsible Party

The 2ndBook service is provided by an independent individual developer who is not a legal entity. The Operator's full identifying details are set out in the Privacy Policy, section 1.1. 2ndBook is a non-commercial tool that lets users find and contact each other directly. The operator is not a party to any transaction between users, does not hold, transfer or retain funds, and charges no commission. Any purchase, sale or exchange happens directly between users and outside the operator's responsibility. Data protection contact: support@secondbook.kz.

1. What is Synchronization

The sync feature allows you to:

Transfer files between your devices
Sync reading progress and bookmarks
Access your library from multiple devices

2. Sync Modes

P2P Only (“no persistent cloud copy”): To deliver a file to another of your devices, it is temporarily uploaded to SecondBook's cloud relay. This is not a persistent cloud copy; the deletion process is described in section 3.

P2P + Server: The file is uploaded to your personal cloud storage and can be downloaded again by your devices. Access is restricted to your account.

Server Only: File transfer and repeat downloads use a copy in your personal cloud storage.

3. Server Storage

Server storage works in two models:

Temporary handoff: a file is placed in server storage for a one-time transfer. The temporary copy stops being available 48 hours after it is created. After expiry, the service no longer offers the copy for download; physical removal is performed by periodic cleanup and may happen later. If delivery is interrupted or does not finish, the file may need to be uploaded again from the source device.
Persistent cloud copy: if you save a book to the cloud, the copy is kept while you use it. For copies with a recorded access to the bytes, after 60 days since the last access, the service makes the copy unavailable for download, but the file bytes remain in server storage. If the bytes are still present, the copy may become available again when a device reconnects. Automatic cleanup is not guaranteed for a copy with no recorded access. This period is an activity window, not a guaranteed physical deletion deadline.
No Guarantee: We do not guarantee indefinite file preservation and recommend keeping your own backup.
Your Responsibility: You are responsible for the legality of uploaded content.

4. Your Obligations

Important: By uploading files to the cloud, you confirm that:

You have the legal right to use these files
You are not infringing third-party copyrights
You are not uploading content prohibited by law

5. Platform Rights

SecondBook reserves the right to:

Remove any content without prior notice
Limit or disable the sync feature
Remove content upon rights holder request
Block violator accounts

6. Limitation of Liability

SecondBook is not liable for:

File loss due to automatic cleanup
Content removal upon rights holder request
Sync feature unavailability
Any damage related to sync usage

7. Limits

Maximum file size: 100 MB
Maximum number of files: 10
Total storage limit: 100 MB
Temporary-copy availability window: 48 hours
Persistent-copy activity window after recorded access: 60 days

8. Consent

By using any file-sync mode, you accept the temporary server processing described above. Modes with a persistent cloud copy also use longer-term storage.
